This is a five-part video series featuring joint efforts made by Chinese and African individuals and institutions in seeking common progress in fields such as education, medical services and wildlife protection.

Angola’s 25-year-long civil war ended less than two decades ago. The Angolan people have made a lot of progress rebuilding their country, but their health care system is still lacking. It’s being helped by the new Luanda General Hospital, the country’s second-largest hospital, which was built by Chinese contractors and funded by China. There’s always a team of Chinese doctors stationed here that offers medical treatment to the local community.

Meanwhile, at Wenzhou Medical University in China’s Zhejiang Province, a group of African midwife assistants are receiving training. The sixteen trainees are the first group of participants in a special midwifery training program called “Angola of Life for Africa”, which is designed to reduce maternal and infant mortality.
