    Source: China Plus| Published: 2017-11-22

The Yangtze River Cableway is sometimes known as the “First Air Corridor across the Yangtze River”, or the “Air Bus in Mountain City”, and was the second trans-river cableway after the Jialing River Cableway. It has been in service for about 30 years.

The Yangtze River Cableway was domestically designed and built, as a passenger cableway spanning the Yangtze River. It runs for 1,166 meters and connects the streets of both banks of the river. With a speed of 6 meters per second, the crossing takes just 4 minutes each way, carrying 10,500 passengers each day.

Before it came into service, residents had to use a ferry or bridge to get to the other side, which could take an hour. Fog often put the ferries out of action.??

The completion of the cableway brought a welcome, efficient and spectacular way for residents to cross the river.
